Season 2008 packed for Christmas

First, I have to say that I'm sorry that I don't have enough time to do this analysis properly in English but I'll just write down the biggest things in my training last season.

So, basically the beginning of my training season went really badly from November till April due to knee problems. I could start real hard running tainings just a few weeks before EOC. In addition, I had travelled so much and rested so little that I was a little overtrained during one month in the spring and because of which I was constantly ill and tired too. On the other hand, I had been busy doing alternative training, so my physics were only bad in running, not overall. (training diagram can be found in the training section)

So the spring was shit, but hey I was lucky and it all started to go better just before EOC. But I had to make tuff decisions in order to make the best possible results in WOC. I trained a lot during the last weeks before EOC and I also left out the long distance there. I really had to concentrate on my running technique and fast running over all at that time.

Luckyly, everything worked out very well. My performances kept on going upwards after the EOC(okey some big and quick downhills as well). Anyway, it made my mind stronger and I knew I would be on top in the WOC. And the rest, well you know the rest...:O)

However, as I had decided to focus on the WOC only. I was mentally rather tired after it. I didn't want to do ”the job” anymore and in fact, I was quite lousy during the last part of the season too. However, I wanted to leave my self a better mood and decided to make things work for the last competitions in Wcup and in Finnish champs as well.

In conclusion, I can say that I didn't do things too well last year. I wasn't heeling my problems properly and I wasn't listening to my body either. On the other hand, I did some major, important and wice decisions which helped me through the mess after all. I didnt even try to eat the entire cake but just took the chocolates on top of it:) But I do hope that next year will be easier as the intervalls with ski poles and exercise cycling in our bathroom almost drove me grazy !

Here are som number of my last season. I hope that I can ski and orienteer more nex year and hopefully I can leave the cycle too and concentrate on my orienteering skills.

Training hours: 590

Orienteering hours: 90

Skiing hours: <50

Cycling hours: >100

Travelling (all the days outside Jyväskylä): approximately 222 .

Receptions(e.g sponsor events): >25

Days with injury/illness: can't even count..

Next season is already here and luckyly my plantari fascitis is getting better too, step by step. Motivation is also huge. You can check my training from last week below, I really trained... I dared to run a little bit too:D Hope you get motivated too before it's time to relax and enjoy the Christmas time.

Mon: Easy running 90min. Foot was taped.

Tue: Hiking with Riina, carrying Vilma in my back. 65Min

Exercise cycling intervall. 20X1in (fast) 1min rec. 65Min

Wed: Morning run 20minwith Pasi

Skiing 75min+running 15min+crcuit 20min

MASSAGE

Thu: Skiing with Laura 2.10 + 15min running

Exercise cycling intervalls 20x1(1)= 65min

Fri: Morning run 30min

Skiing 85min +running easily 35min

Sat: Skiing with Laura again. 2H15min +15min running.

Intervalls with exercise cycle: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 + 1, 2, 3, 2, 1+ 1, 2, 1, 1, 1. With 1min. Recovery and growing speed. 1H 25min.

Sun: Morning run 45min

Running and taking my godson, Mikko, to a sledge hill. 1h of running.

Exercise cycling interwalls high speed 45s-50s x13. 35Min +10min of strength.

Overall 18h 15min of training.

And now I'm going to make a strength training!
