Hey Hoy Finland, we're home

Training, local delicates and different towns and cities filled the past four weeks of my life. The journey was, indeed, a great Experience and the images and memories are saved both on my computer and in my head.

After the two rest days in Geneve we spent the last 9 days with the Finnish national team in Southern Switzerland. On our way to Locarno we refreshed our memories by visiting the World Cup 2002 sprint race area in Lausanne. It was also very "interesting" to drive over the Alpes to Italy without winter tyres...

The o-trainings weren't really a succes as the downhills were just too steep and long for me and my stupid knee at the moment. The sprints were perhaps better even though the fast movements felt a bit weird after the long months of slow speed. There are a few examples of the trainings below.

As I had to do some alternative training too and as the training amounts had been so big already during the past few weeks, I also cycled and ran in the water. I made, for instance, this one "easy" cycling training of 4 hours with Mats "the machine" Haldin and I have to admit that I didn't feel too recovered after almost 1800m of uphill;)

In addition, I had time in the afternoons to make a map around our hotel. Last year I won the title of The Egg Eagle in Czechs and I wanted to keep the competition a tradition. I also got Maria "the Egg Hawk" to help me. The idea was to find as many chocolate eggs as possible by memorizing the controls one by one. The map was excellent, of course (you can see it below. The winners of the year were Ulrika Uotila (11 eggs) and Juha Sorvisto (10eggs). Well done!

Now, were going to spent two days at home (wow!) and then drive towards Vihanti, Pasi's home place, to ski and eat some more Easter eggs. As I was running my last training on the paths on the beautiful Alpes, I thought I should better take care of the knee problem properly before the season really gets started. I also decided to concentrate on my orienteering skills before I travel to Latvia (club camp) and Chechs (Woc-camp). Maybe that way, I would find the controls a bit faster. My latest performances haven't really been textbook examples...

Anyway, I hope you all have a nice Easter and eat huge amounts of chocolate eggs!

Minna, The Egg Eagle
